Jesus, the Redeemer of Humanity, and His Missionaries
How is the Life of a Missionary of God? Is it easy? No! It is full of challenges.
When you decide to be a Missionary of God, it doesn’t mean that you have achieved perfection. It means that you recognize your struggles and have decided to walk towards the Divine Perfection, that is God.
In short, you recognize you’re a sinful person in need of repentance, redemption, and resurrection. How should I put that into practice, then?
It is natural in us to look for references, people whom we see as being worthy of praise and who instill in us the will to be like them. So, who should we follow?
In the search for this answer, we can go over the Old Testament, which is full of human examples. Real and relatable people, like: Adam and Eve, Abraham and Sarah, Moses, Ruth, David, Jonah, Isaiah, and many more…
Human references to repentance and redemption
But can they be the right examples for us to follow in this world and be with God? No! They are examples of repentance and redemption. For instance:
Adam and Eve had to fall to realize God’s greatness; Abraham misinterpreted God’s Will and was ready to sacrifice his own son; Moses ran to the desert from the guilt and judgment for killing an Egyptian guard; Ruth, believed that God had only brought misfortune to her life; David was a lustful and greedy man; Jonah was prideful and refused to follow God’s Will; Isaiah deemed himself unworthy of God’s prophecies.
But by reflecting on their own failures, that is, their own imperfection. They were able to perceive the path of redemption that God set for them.
Adam and Eve became symbols of our spiritual and divine origin from God; Abraham became the symbol of our connection to the One and True God; Moses had the merit to bring the Ten Commandments of God; Ruth became a symbol of faith in God’s actions and provisions in life; David, became the symbol of a fearful king to God’s prowess; Jonah became the symbol of God’s mercy through suffering; and Isaiah became the symbol of of a watchmen of God’s prophecies.
A moment of despair and trust in God’s actions
They all had imperfections, but what made them different was the realization of their own struggles and will to repent and to work for redemption. In his prayer of faith, David recognizes his despair and that salvation comes from God’s Love (Psalm 13):
Prayer of Faith
1 How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?
2 How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?
3 Look on me and answer, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,
4 and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
5 But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6 I will sing the Lord’s praise, for He has been good to me.
Great challenges, but extraordinary victories
They all faced great challenges, but as long as they were willing to reach God, they achieved extraordinary victories.
And that is all because of God’s Love, which came after they repented and then worked for redemption. So, did that make them perfect human beings? No. Because none of them were able to resurrect by their own merit and direct connection to God.
Jesus’s life is the example of resurrection
The only one who didn’t have the need to repent and seek redemption, but to offer us that path, and that was able to resurrect, because of His direct connection to God, was Jesus Christ!
The One who incarnated the Word and Love of God in this world.
Can you see the difference? They can all be examples of repentance and redemption, but none of them can offer you salvation that will resurrect you for a new life. Only Christ can do it.
He is the true example and reference to be followed in this life. The only One who offers us a path of repentance and redemption that resurrects us in God.
But that is a choice that you make. Again, will the change be easy? Of course not! You will face more challenges, more struggles, because once you decide to be a follower of Jesus Christ, to become a Missionary of God, you will bother the world — not because you’re against the world itself, but because you love God’s creation —, and victory will not only come in your way, but you will become an example of the Victory Christ promotes in our lives. Because you act against wickedness, but not against the wicked. You seek to promote the Love of God and not the violence people try to impose as His will. To kill the other is not a Christian way of life. That is “too easy” in comparison to the act of working together to overcome the struggles that both face. A Christian way of life is to show the path of salvation in Jesus, our Divine Master.
The Sealed Missionaries of God and The Glorified Crowd
Once you decide to follow Jesus, you then choose to become one of His Sealed Missionaries, which is narrated in the 7th chapter, verses 1-8, of His Book of Revelation. You’ll be part of the cutting-edge team of missionaries, who, as Brother Paiva states, are: “detached, passionate beings, with extreme zeal for the Divine Christic Ideal. They are luminous Spirits of various origins, reborn many times throughout the millennia, in all flocks, not exclusively religious nor solely those called Christian. These Spirits have the mission of bringing to Earth the message of the Ecumenical Christ, the Divine Statesman, in a language that countless groups of peoples, tribes, and nations can understand.”
By persevering in God’s Commandments, and mainly in the One that Jesus brings in His Gospel (John 13:34-35), we will be part of the Ecumenical Flock that He gathers, the Glorified Crowd as it is narrated in His Book of Revelation (7:9-10):
9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.
10 And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb of God.”
Decision to follow the calling
How is your life right now? Is it good? Is it without suffering? Are you conscious of your choices? Did you realize life is more than material needs? Make up your mind to Christ!
He is calling you to follow Him and see the future He holds for you. The extraordinary victories you can achieve by following God’s Will, the changes you can promote not only in your life, but in the lives of others.
Not everything is doomed. Not everything is eternal suffering. You have the power to choose, so choose God’s Love!
Our Beloved Friend, Jesus Christ, is calling us, is calling you to love one another as He loved us and to be humble to perceive the path of repentance and redemption God provides for us, so we can resurrect with the Love of Christ.
Read the Gospel, read the Book of Revelation of Jesus. Set a challenge for yourself to read the Holy Bible.
A moment to connect with Christ
Now, I invite you to pray and have an intimate conversation with Jesus Christ, so you can open your heart to God’s Revelation.
Jesus’ Ecumenical Prayer, The Lord’s Prayer
(Matthew 6:9 to 13)
9 Our Father, who is in Heaven, Hallowed be Your Name.
10 Your Kingdom come. Your Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 Forgive us our trespasses just as we forgive those who trespass against us.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for Yours is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory forever. Amen!
Never forget to reach Christ throughout life through prayer and going to church.
God Is Present! Jesus Lives in our hearts forever!
May the Peace of God be upon you!
